30th august: went for the merdeka countdown at gravity bar @ cq with dino, yen and her friends. very crowded, hot and stuffy and a bit potong esp the countdown part. was a bit bored at the beginning before the "countdown".
yen and i were waiting for time to pass just so we can go back after the so-called countdown. guess what... it wasn't even a countdown. half an hour before 2am (msian time:12am), they had 2 rappers (from msia, i THINK) performing. don't even know who they are. and then this guy called J.R (i THINK) performed. couldn't understand a word he's rapping. a few minutes after that, out of the sudden the MTV VJ (fazura?) just announced something like "it's the same time back home...bla bla bla MERDEKA!" and the whole place went "MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA!" it was crazy! and they played the national anthem and we were supposed to sing but it was too noisy with everyone shouting "MERDEKA!!!!!!!!" and cheering on. woot! the whole "countdown" thing lasted for about 10minutes and the partying resumed.
stayed on for another hour before heading back. but it was fun being able to enjoy myself with some really cool girls. and oh, seeing dino being so happy on the dance floor. hehe. didn't take any pics (though yen's friend did. need to get it from her) but took this video.
31st august: went for MoMU's kenduri merdeka at arrows. went with elaine, yen and dino. kenix was supposed to come but she had eye infection so she stayed at home instead. called richard along but he couldn't make it because of work. very well organized. good food. not a lot, but good enough for me. prawn crackers!! sambal!!!! beef rendang!!! bubur cha chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
the performances was not too bad either. had a short skit about parameswara and tunku. " width=448 height=361 type=application/x-shockwave-flash wmode="transparent" wah.. you saw not? that kancil kicked my dog ah!? wow.. a girl performed siti nurhaliza?s ?Bukan Cinta Biasa?. wah lau eh.... damn kao power. seriously mind-blowing!! everyone into her singing it was quiet. u can?t hear anyone whispering or talking except for things like "she?s really good!", "wah.. sound so alike" and "OMG she's gooooood!"
ah-ha! finally... our dear kai yau danced. sexyback yo! it was a good performance. can see that they actually put in effort into the whole thing.
all in all, i'm glad that i went for it albeit paying $30 for malaysian food. dino kept saying it was expensive and he rather spend such money on steak in a good restaurant. but hah! in the end he still succumbed to the beef rendang. it was a well-planned, well-organized event.
