thought of doing a "50 things i like about Malaysia" post but i guess that was too ambitious. i can hardly think of anything i like about my tanah tumpahnya darahku other than the food, astro and the KTM station in kajang that caters for the train to temasik. maybe if i breakdown the food group into individual dishes, that can actually happen.


anyway, our country has come a long way since 1957. i can't possibly list down our every achievement (that truly really matters) for the last 50 years, but i believe we have progressed and are going towards building a better nation. how, i don't know. but in my opinion, education plays an important role, not only in creating better skilled people, but also in instilling the moral values which are the key ingredient in social harmony. bak kata pepatah, melentur buluh biarlah dari rebungnya. shoot.. i'm starting to preach now. no no no. this post is supposed to be a non-serious one.

so, all in all, i'm proud to say that i'm a malaysian.

SPRING BREAK! aka 'the 2 weeks to catch up on your studies from week 1-8 and start preparing for your finals and oh, don't forget about that assignment due in week 11 worth 30%. not to mention you need to go to the royal melbourne show, pixar thing, shrine of remembrance and breakfast at brunswick street and shopping at bridge road/chapel street and maybe tea time at flinders lane and visit kenny @ adelaide'

i'm so in need of good time-management skills. and less addiction to sleep.

ok. since my mood is alright today, i shall blog a bit about my life. mainly about last saturday but no harm telling you what i did today. i went shopping. and i bought stuff!! clothes!! ooh.. this is bad, given that i've not been attending class for the past 2 weeks. gah... let's get back to the main topic: last saturday.

ah.. yes. organized dinner for some friends last saturday at my place. spent friday buying groceries and making dessert. spent saturday cleaning the house and cooking and entertaining people.

actually, i've planned this dinner for some time already (supposed to be at the end of week 1, not week 4) but due to some unforeseen circumstances at that time, it was postponed till 3 weeks later. this time, everything had to be right. i spent one whole night thinking of what to cook and even bought a dessert book for this occasion. just so i can make dessert for my guests.

what's on the menu? well, rice is our staple food so of course it has to be chinese/malaysian cuisine. actually, a bit campur-aduk la since i wanna bake fish(our kitchen is maha tiny). it was a 3-course meal with soup and dessert. :)

main attraction of the night: chicken RENDANG. i'm actually not proud of it at all because it didn't turn out the way i wanted it to be. but since everyone else is fine with it i guess it was not too bad. quite a good one for a first-timer i'd say. kakaka. next, it's the fish. salmon, again. but a different recipe this time. wouldn't tell you the ingredients but it's called MAPLE SALMON. it was very much loved by everyone esp dino. and then we have the vege part. but to be safe we ditched the whole vege thing and used beancurd instead. it's BRAISED BEANCURD SKIN WITH MUSHROOMS (i think that's the name in the book. couldn't really remember). since i was quite busy, ei-leen (my tobey :P) prepared this dish. and woah.. it was edwin's favourite. hahaha. can be her dish now.. no more claypot tofu. and as always, we have our soup. to minimise the risk (since everything else is first time) we stuck to our beloved ABC SOUP. and again, as always, it was goooooooooood. to end it all, we had MANGO PUDDING made from fresh mango. not mango extract mind you. maybe that's why the texture is a bit different from the mango puddings you eat outside. since i'm not a fan of mango pudding, i didn't care what the rest think of it. haha. if i'm free enough, i might make it again, if you think it's nice. but yeah.

oh hoh... the housemates served something else: BUBBLE TEA. bubbles in peach tea. that was the "drink" for our dinner. ahhahaha. not bad. not bad at all. can rival easy way. hehehe.

not only that, we had a surprise gift from someone. he bought a cake for the dinner. STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE. *drools* so we had 2 desserts. woah. no wonder i felt so bloated. the cheesecake was a bit too cheesy but well, it was ok after the first serving. i'm not exactly a cheesecake fan but well, it was good. not that i'm saying this because he bought it, but i'm saying this because it was really good and i liked it. i don't mind having more :P. hahahaha

all in all, it was a good night. had fun talking to everyone. and it was good that everyone enjoyed the dinner. well... i think the next time i cook for this many people will be during spring break. and hopefully, the person who bought the cake can join us again. haha.. thank you for helping me in organizing this dinner. thank you for cleaning the house. thank you for the chocolate. thank you for the cake. thank you for coming. thank you for making it happen. wah.. so emo.

i want to start baking cookies!!!!!!!

so far, this is my favourite J-Drama. actually, this is the only J-Drama i've watched, from the beginning till the end including the 2-hour special episode in 2006. it's like i can watch this show over and over and over again. takuya kimura is absolutely charming in this show. the other actors also made it very enjoyable. and now, the movie version every "HERO" fan has been waiting for since 2001 is out. i can't wait to get my hands on the DVD!!!

since i'm having nothing else to do, might as well update the blog before my laziness sets in again. went to Falls Creek last weekend. supposed to be a great season this year, with the snowfall and all. han and yen promoted snowboarding so i did it instead of skiing. @#$%^ i regretted not exercising for the past 4 years (since comp squad 2002 ended). back then, kawad was my only way of "exercising", and to build and maintain my stamina. now? if you consider walking home from uni 3 times a week exercise, then that's what i've been doing. but, NOT enough to have the stamina for snowboarding. i suspect my calf muscles have been planning this strike since i retired from the marching scene. damn kao 7 tiring lah! haven't felt their presence for so long and when they're back, fuh! snowboarding: tough shit but fun when u've mastered the skills + have the stamina/strength. me + snowboarding: board, brake, scream, pokai, sit on the ground for 10 minutes, continue the process again until i reach the bottom.

it was nonetheless a very fun experience and i'd love to snowboard again but at the moment, it's a tad too expensive and i need to prepare my body for this tough sport before i torture my body again. and oh, falling on fresh snow(?) is GREAT FUN. and to slide down from those slopes.. :) makes me happy like a small kid with a huge playground where you can do anything you want.

if i don't do this sooner, they'll suspect i don't love them as much. so, here's the post about my birthday "bash" back home. celebrated with 6 of my good friends: dinner at Modesto's and then drinks at Luna Bar. had a great time talking rubbish and doing nothing productive with them :) it has been a long long time since we had this sort of gathering so it was nice to be able to see and spend time with you guys. thanks for coming and i hope we'll be able to do something like this more often. well, who can forget my birthday? *winks* hahaha.

my surprise from px and the pig. they came to my house 1-2days before i reach home to blow the balloons and also bought me a cake. that was the first and only time (i think) that they were willing to travel all the way to semenyih VOLUNTARILY. *claps*
